Alfred, tell them that joke you know...

September 4th, 2008 (08:47 pm)

current mood: sleepy
current song: skillet - whispers in the dark

My leave time was very good. The flight in went very well and I didn't suffer my usual migrain on the decent. Made a stop in Seattle for twelve hours and managed to find the USO and stayed up all night having way too much fun on Natural Selection. The next day I managed to get to the next flight on time and arrived in Montana to my family and girlfriend waiting for me.

It was fun not having to wake up at five in the morning every day. The first few days my girlfriend and I made sure that things around the house were taken care of around the house and managed to get in touch with some friends around town to enjoy ourselves. Early morning had me making the run into a nearby city to pick up a birthday present my mother had purchased for me, cruise control for my Elentra.

After dropping the car off I went out in order to get closer to my goal of obtaining my 200th geocache. This would be my first time using my Triton 1500 after nearly a year of ownership. First cache had a great view of the Belt Mountains, the rest took me in a five mile circle to come back to the car shop. Good news was that the cruise control was installed, bad was it didn't work under 50 mph without racing the engine. After the five mile walk in nearly 101 temps and the four hours waiting for trouble shooting left me too tired to complete my geocaching goal.

A few days later allowed the needed parts to arrive and allowed me to push through to my goal. During the push I found quite a few innovative cache containers, this had me scratching my head a few times as I came all the way to cache 199. Here, for the first time, I was caught by a muggle. A muggle is someone not familure with the activity. They caught me right as I had found some shade to sign the log and questioned me as to why there had been so many people interested in that tree. After silently cursing myself for getting caught I put on my best public relations face on and started to explain. After convincing them that it wasn't a drug deal going down.

My twohundredth cache was a brand new hide that my girlfriend's father had found as his first cache. It was near an old one room school house and I managed to get some great pictures before making the find. Going back up to stay with my girlfriend I had another great caching day helping out her father find some of the nearby caches. We went out just as a rain shower was passing by and a huge double rainbow was forming, soon after the sun went down and that made finding the last cache a lot of fun, it is late so I will post more later...

it is always fun not having to wake up at 0500.
it is even more fun just to wake up on your own without some other shipmate confessinfg his sins of the night before while you bang your head on top of the rack.
