Small update

happy

current mood: happy

Decided to do a little too much hiking around Seward so now that we are back out to sea it has come back to haunt me :(. Seems I over used a ligament in my left knee so every time I try to compensate for ships movement I get a nice sharp pain in the knee area, glad the docs onboard have plenty of pain meds, mine were starting to run thin and the stores around the area had pretty old stuff. I tried looking for some more multi-vitamins at the nearby Safeway and found that the level of dust was indicative to how soon the expiration date was..heheheh, yep, fairly thick, must expire this year, not too much on this one, next year, so on and so forth...

Managed to find some good ol' Jolt cola, much to my surprise. There is exactly one little store within two hundred miles of where I live in Montana that sells it. Also managed to snag some Nuttella for the trip home, I noticed the hazelnut spread and snapped it up before we pulled out. Needless to say the comfort food will sustain me till we pull in to Pearl and I finally get on that plane to get some well deserved leave time.

Tried to get in touch with the family while in Seward. Found out from one of my grandmothers that my father had moved, I had known this was going to happen but we've not had much communication within the past year so I was wondering if they had made it safely to the new destination. I'm glad to hear they did make it. It was the eleventh so after wishing both my grandmothers and on of my Aunts happy mothers day I tried unsuccessfully to call my own mother. My girlfriend was in the middle of cooking dinner for her mother before she got home so I passed my well wishes to her as well. I sent both my mother and my girlfriend’s mother an arrangement of flowers and, judging from the emails (the first I've received from my mother in months), they enjoyed them immensely. It was good to talk to my family again, it makes me sad that I see them so seldom and for such a short time but I guess that is part of the sacrifice made to see the world and take part of my nation’s defense.

Received a surprise around mid-day today as I groggily made my way to the mess decks to grab some food; my command's Master Chief (Highest ranking enlisted person on board) pulled me aside and gave me a compliment on my web blog. Of course my mind was still clouded with the sandman's dust so while the left side of my brain was in utter shock the right side managed to ask which blog was being commented on (creativity saves!). Found out that they had been viewing this journal. Asked if they had viewed the pictures yet but recieved a non-commital answer (best part of the blog if you ask me ;)). Even found out that the higher levels had viewed it and had responded positively.

Yes, this journal will remain public :D

the higher people are reading this also?

ooops...better not mention about the time you tried to pick up the girl that you did not know was the Captain's daughter.
I think you mention she was 22 but was really 14.
you thought she was a school teacher and not a student.
AND i should not mention that you thought she was not worth the $20.

...oh wait...that was not the Captain's daughter but his son.

Ok, i will not mention any of that

(i hear the brig has new wall paper)

I'm sure I'll enjoy my time there, especially when my "accomplice" is in the next cell with me ;).
