Mild grumbling...

current mood: exhausted
current song: Voices in my head

So here I sit in front of the computer after accomplishing another watch, which I have two more, on this day of duty. Unfortunately I've missed a hail and farewell that happened early this evening for three of my shipmates that will be leaving either before or after this deployment is over. I'm a little ticked that I wasn't able to take watch standers liberty to go but with so many watches and being on the ships fire party there was no way that my duty section leader could swing it.

I was just informed yesterday that I am being kicked out of the barracks. Not because of getting in trouble, but because of being promoted. I now have three days after this day of duty to either find a place to rent out in town or have one of my shipmates house some of my stuff while on deployment. One of my shipmates is in the same trouble as I am so we house hunted all day yesterday even though we don't know if he will be getting payed his BAH (Basic Housing Allowance) until we get back from deployment. Kinda sucks.

My girlfriend has been getting mad when I try and get off of the phone now. It being so close to a time that we will only be able to be in touch by email it is understandable but I've got so many things to do and I don't like to talk on the phone in the first place it has become a point of contention between us.

Still need to get cards and gifts for Valentines Day and thank you cards from Christmas out. It has been interesting just trying to find time to sleep while I've been running about. For about four days there I could just feel my brain trying to work against the fatigue as the stuff I needed to due piled up. Now it is getting better since I've gotten most of the high priority items accomplished and knocking out the detail work as I get time.

In regards to housing, i lived on the ship so i did not have to worry about that problem.
As for the GF not wanting to hang up...well, the trick i pulled was (in a distant voice so as to sound like the 1mc)
"On board the Shenandoah, Security Alert, Security Alert!"
"Got to go dear, bye" click

LOL! I will have to try that. It is funny though, they gave us four days but one is taken up by duty and another two are a weekend...go figure! I will decide on monday and probably take some pics of the new pad.

Congrats on the promotion! Stinks about the basically being kicked out, but I suppose you shouldn't be in the same living space as those ranked below you is the reasoning?
