Just a short note...

February 3rd, 2007 (11:42 pm)
crushed

current mood: crushed
current song: NONE! IT WAS ALL DELETED! ARGH!

Just bought a new hard drive for my computer.

WORD OF WARNING!!!!!!!

If you participate in the windows vista craze and have a HP computer you will not have sound drivers after your update if you lose your hard drive like I did. This loss is fixed if you have the 32 bit version of vista but not with the 64 bit version (I have both). HP does not have a driver at this time for the 64 bit version.

Also make sure you update your BIOS after you update the OS. The 64 bit version will not work for this either but the 32 bit version should be fine...If it isn't I will inform you tomorrow

Oh dear... O_O I'm liking what I've got right now. I STILL haven't seen enough about Vista to understand the need to upgrade. XP

I'm waiting until it's on computers in the stores and then I can play with it some.

Sniff

I'm staying with my XP 'til I'm forced to upgrade. It was only last that I had to let go of my '98 (which was nice while it lasted because some worms had no clue what to do in a '98 machine!).

Yeah I don't like Vista... Sticking with XP for a while. At least until I buy a new pc and even then i'll see if i can get the option to get xp instead. some notes on Vista
1. Itunes doesnt work on vista (at least not very well)
2. Adobe products have some issues with vista (mainly updating stuff)
3. If you buy vista licenses online you have a chance of getting a non-working serial number
4. They are already working on SP1 (big warning not to get vista till at least they have SP1 out)
5. changed stuff for the sake of changing (wtf is my computer!?)
6. You need a high end system to actually run many of the new systems.
7. When you start some programs, (such as to register your adobe products) you have to log on as an admin first, Even if your log in as an admin you have to log on the software as an admin! (right click select run as admin)
8. All hackers wanna test their skills with new OS

thankfully I got my main pc fixed a few months ago & got XP. My sis is stubborn though & despite her's being on it's last legs hasn't yet bought one - she gonna be shocked when she does if I show her what you put
- thanks for the info!

Sorry you lost everything Sarge, I know what that feels like & I still don't back up as often as I should !
