Memories of Rimpack...

July 28th, 2006 (08:26 am)

current location: U.S.S. CHAFEE (DDG-90)
current mood: frustrated
current song: Taproot-I

Above is a link to the Naval training exercise my ship took part in. It's been an interesting month and I have a few of the lessons I learned.

1.Sleep is a passing fad.
2.There are only so many ways to cook fish.
3.No matter how much you like a person, you don't want to see them every day.
4.General Quarters only happens when you are trying to get some sleep.
5.Top Ramen is always better then midnight rations...always.
6.Mirc is your friend. Even if the only people you can talk to are other saliors.
7.In the battle between an I beam and a human the I beam has more victories.
8.Gravity is not constant on a small ship.
9.In relation to #8, Bulkheads can become the deck at any time.
10.Being ten nautical miles away from land sucks.

1 mile [nautical, international] = 1.150 779 448 mile [international]
Via www.onlineconversion.com, basically if you travel one degree (longitude) you've gone one nautical mile.

*Hugs back!*

Re: Hugs in abundance!

The Ramen one of course. Ramen is always better than anything, and I'm certain better than rations. (Unless it's the dehydrated fruit which I used to find so fun to eat.) It's the most ingenious food item. I guess this was a lesson I had alredy learned. XD
