Why am I up?

June 10th, 2003 (05:20 am)

current mood: sleepy
current song: Fuel - Hemorrhage (In My Hands)

Yah, its five am went to bed at one am and I don't have any clue why I am up. I am scedualed to go knock on my friends door at eight am and wake him up so we can travel two hundred miles today before going to work this evening...lol. I know my butt's going to be dragging at work today but what the hell. My sense of adventure appears to be alive and well, let's see how I'm fairing this afternoon though...lol.

*Looks for Kathleen online, doesn't find her, is dissipointed.*

It sucks that most of my friends suscribe to that passing fad called sleep. Nobody to talk to except some people I don't know on the IRC anipike channel. The current topic <link=http://inuyasha.fateback.com/main.html>Inyuasha. Personally I don't mind the anime series but cartoon network in a blessing/curse type way has edited it and engloslaughtered it for the mainstream populace. I guess I should be thankful that anime is becoming more accepted. I still don't like the fact that most of hard work and effort of the creators is edited out by some tweeked out censor though. Censorship just annoyes me sometimes on television and radio. Though I must admit I am a hypocrite as I moderate the Anipike channel and one of the rules is a restriction on cussing. We live in a messed up world.

Personally I don't see the complaint

It's not like mainstream movies don't get edited for Network Television. The thing is, however there are more options than just watching the edited version on TV. Just consider it the sampler platter. If they want the full version go rent it or buy it.

You get the edited version for "Free" ;)

Re: Personally I don't see the complaint

"Free" is exactly right...lol. How much do you spend on your cable or satilight bill per month Ms. Nei? Add to that the electric bill to run the equipment and whatever other bills such as food and comfort to make watching the tv enjoyable and you have a substantial amount for a "free" service.

I do see your point but I am mearly stating my dislike for edited Music and television. It is a very sharp sword the censors balance on. Edit to little and you drive people away, edit too much and the same thing happens. We live in a world where people just aren't happy with anything you do so you mearly try and make the best of it. You've noticed this when you are redesigning the site haven't you...lol. Thanks for your post Ms. Nei. Please feel free to post again whenever you feel like it. Take care and I'll talk to you later.

Comfort vs luxury

Now I can see where one could complain about an Electric bill, but I don't have a sattelite or Cable bill. Simply because I know that those are entertainment items. They're not a right but merely a privilidge. If I don't like the service I don't pay for it and merely seek my options elsewhere.

Back in the day we played outside, we also did other things and found them as entertainment. We didn't really find the necessity for Cable or other items. We got by. And I in fact still get by.

I find other ways to get on the internet for example. I can go to the local library and deal with whatever filters, and be glad at least some of my tax dollars are being spent on GOOD computers reguardless of the filters put on them (Which are mainly because people abuse these computers pretty badly)

That's not to say I don't understand your qualms about censorship. I dislike Censorship myself, but I also know that it's not true censorship as long as someone is allowed to buy the alternative ^.^

Re: Comfort vs luxury

Heheheh, it is cool to see another person that doesn't have to be glued to the tv all day. I do not subscribe to cable or satilight just dvd or vhs for me. I'm not around my apartment long enough to enjoy it so I've never gotten it.

I subscribed to an internet service because I find it a whole lot better to get the news from and it is a vast information library for me to draw from and I hate to be without it. That and the fact that the more you use it the faster you can get what you need is most awsome.

So why don't you get internet Ms. Nei? Your computer at home not set up for it or just cannot find a good priced internet service?
